Luis A. Guzman, also known as “Gulu”, is from Avondale(Chicago), IL. Luis is a full-time special education teacher and a fine art portrait painter. His fine art portraiture work explores faces and figures through color and texture. Seeking beauty in all that he creates, his work often makes use of acrylic paint, inks, pallet knives, molding paste, gilding wax and gold leaf. He is immensely inspired by human beings, their forms and their complexities. He searches for different shapes, angles and tones in order to convey a unique perspective to the human embodiment. His process is reflective of a self search, signifying his own differences and likenesses through the artistic process.
